Message from Dai
Welcome to the August 2026 edition of my e-Newsletter!
It has been great spending time out in the community over recent weeks, including launching our very first “On the Ground with Dai” office outreach earlier this month. My team and I, together with representatives from Services Australia, the Australian Dental Association, Anglicare and the Energy & Water Ombudsman NSW (EWON) brought the electorate office to Sydney Outlet Village in Warwick Farm, where it was wonderful to meet so many of you in person, hear your concerns, and connect you directly with support services.
I am looking forward to continuing our office outreach visits across our Fowler community.
I want to congratulate the Canley Heights Cobras FC on its 80th anniversary as the oldest football club in the Southern Districts region and thank them for the honour of attending their gala dinner to celebrate this special occasion.
A reminder for our young people, submissions are closing soon for the Raise Our Voice in Parliament competition. If you are in Years 5 to 10, or know someone who is, I encourage you to take part. This is a unique opportunity to have your voice heard in the Parliament of Australia.
Students are invited to submit a 90-second speech responding to the question: “What is one big issue shaping your future, and what is a meaningful action you want Parliament to take on it?” Submissions close on 7 August.
I am pleased to be joining fellow independent MPs as a panellist at the COSBOA National Small Business Summit on 5 August. This important discussion will focus on the state and future of small businesses in Australia. My focus: the challenges facing businesses here in Western Sydney – issues I know are front of mind for many in our community. Register for the Summit.
A reminder that the 2026 Census is coming up, starting Tuesday night, 11 August. Most households will receive a letter with a unique code to complete the Census online, with paper forms and in-person support also available. If you need assistance in your language, you can contact the Translating and Interpreting Service on 131 450.
Participation in the Census is compulsory for everyone in Australia on 11 August, including migrants, visitors, and temporary visa holders. For more information and to complete your Census head here.
Also, please note that our up-to-date seniors kit will soon be available for pickup at our office. A downloadable version will also be available on my website. Keep an eye out for more information.
Finally, it is with deep sadness that we mark the passing of Richard “Taffy” Pritchard OAM, whose warmth, dedication and tireless service to our community, especially through the Canley Heights RSL sub-Branch and Anzac Day commemorations, will long be remembered. Rest in peace.
Please remember, my office is always here for you. Whether you have concerns, ideas, or need support, we’re just a phone call away.
