Independent MP Dai Le says Labor’s pledge to increase the wage of childcare workers by 15 per cent is “adding to the current crisis”.
The federal government has pledged to increase wages by 15 per cent over two years for early childhood education workers.
“The childcare industry, a majority of the workers there are women, and they’ve had, in terms of their pay … has not been high pay,” Ms Le told Sky News Australia.
“I acknowledge that we actually need to increase their pay, but, obviously, that’s adding to the current crisis with our economy.”
